  1. I enjoyed this topic and your information! Where could you get those filings?

  2. Good lesson plan. Do you think the students need an end of the week assessment? I know you mentioned daily assessment but a formal assessment?

  3. Good lesson plan. Can't wait to see video. Would you be able to purchase enough items for each student?

  4. Your lesson plan was good. Would you let the class build the car as groups or individuals?

  5. I really enjoyed your presentation and the lesson plan. It was very well thought out. My question for you is: Did you see if there were other things that you could have used instead of having to forget about your exciting activity that included the iron filings? You did a great job.

  6. Great Lesson! Could you find pieces of iron? if so you could have made your own shavings... if shavings mean filings, I am not sure lol. How would simplify the activities for lower level students? or even behavior challenged students?

  7. Good job Heather. I think that magnets are a hard concept to teach. Do you think that vocabulary should maybe come at the beginning instead of the end?

  8. Great job! Kids would love this activity! Would you ask students to predict before conducting the experiement.

  9. Lots of time and effort on this lesson plan. Great activities. Good idea of promoting the different levels of Bloom's taxonomy. Very detailed concept map. Are students going to complete worksheets in groups or individually? Are there going to be open ended questions?

  10. LOVE your activity! And how you included your kids! Would you have every student make their own car or would you put your students into groups and have them help each other make the car?

  11. Thanks to everyone's very nice comments!
Elizabeth: I dont really know...I just needed more time than I had to get them. I would probably get a peice of iron or steel and just file shavings myself!
Kayla: I just thought the more the grades the better confident the students are about their final grade after the nine weeks. Many times if a teacher has just nine tests for their final grade...kids may get a lower grade than they would if they had a few daily assignments.
Stephanie: No, I would probably do groups of four!
    Tiffany: groups of four!
Kasey: I could have probably got a peice of iron or steel from somewhere and filed the shavings myself but ran out of time!
Jannie: Yes, I would have found a peice of iron or steel to file my own shavings! I also think of giving each group member an assignment to complete with the activities in their groups would help with lower and bad behavior students!
Cindy: Yes I think the vocabulary should come at the beginning but I also think you have to introduce the concept first!
Megan: Yes I would include all of the higher level questioning techniques, including predicting outcomes!
Regina: groups, and yes open ended questions will be conducted like; Do you suppose the magnet will repel facing the magnet this way or not?
    Jess: groups of four!
